Six Tips to Gain Creative Inspiration

Many people would like to be more creative, but sometimes it's hard to come up with the right idea. Thankfully, there are many ways that you can get out of a rut and live a more creative life.

Do Something Every Day

One of the best things that you can do is to infuse creativity into your daily life. Set aside time, even ten minutes a day, to do your creative activity. This way, you'll continue to think about the activity throughout your day and draw more ideas from your daily life.

Keep a Journal

A journal is a great way to collect ideas when you're out and about. Write down phrases and ideas that catch your interest. You may not know what to do with them now, but they might inspire an idea as you flip through them later.

Keep Track of Images You Like

Images are a great tool for jogging your creativity. Photo sites such as Piccsy allow you to browse through photos of all kinds, including landscapes. You could use an image bookmarking site to keep track of images you like so that you can revisit them when you need some new ideas.

Try New Mediums

Many of the best creatives will tell you that they dabble in a variety of visual arts. Sometimes, breaking from your creative comfort zone is just the ticket for getting out of a rut. Try a local dance or painting class, or start learning an instrument; you never know what kinds of new insights you'll find.

Join a Community

Online artists' communities are becoming a popular way to interact with other creative people. You might be able to find new ideas through your peers, but the act of sharing your work with others may also motivate you to spend more time being creative.

Steal from the Greats

If you are coming up with the same old ideas on your own, you can make a practice of stealing from more successful artists. This doesn't mean to simply copy what someone else has done; as long as you add some new perspective to the idea, you may come up with a completely new work of art.

Whenever you feel like you're running out of creative ideas, know that there are many ways to keep going and to come up with something new. The ideas above will help you to spend more time in a creative mindset, and, hopefully, you'll find something new that inspires you.

About Me
artistic use of a camera

When I was five, my mom gave me my first camera. By the end of that day, I had snapped enough pictures to fill three rolls of film. I will remember that day and the day that we picked the pictures up from the developer for the rest of my life. Those were the days that inspired my future. Today, I spend my time taking pictures of families, weddings and all sorts of other events and love every minute of it. If you are interested in photography, my blog will provide you tons of ideas for capturing perfect images and tips for using your camera artistically.
